The itinerary leads from the capital Bogotá with its world famous Gold Museum to the almost untouched Pacific coast where marvelous beaches and deep jungle is still to be discovered. Afterwards the tour leads to the Coffee Region including an easy hike almost to the crater of the volcano Nevado del Ruiz, which lies at 5,000 meters above sea level.  The trip continues to the archaeological area of San Agustín. Enigmatic stone figures, situated in a spectacular landscape, throw participants back in time to the pre-columbian cultures. Leaving behind the deep mountain ranges of the Andes, the journey finalizes at the lively Caribbean coast in Cartagena, which is certainly one of the most fascinating cities in Latin America.

1. DAY: BOGOTÁ

Arrival in Bogotá. Welcome by the bilingual guide and transfer in a comfortable hotel in a good location. 2 nights incl. American breakfast.

2. DAY: BOGOTÁ

Half-day sightseeing tour in the Colombian capital with a visit to Plaza de Bolivar and the surrounding government buildings, the colonial center La Candelaria, the impressive churches of San Francisco and La Tercero, the world-famous Gold Museum with more than 30,000 exhibits from the time of the pre-Columbian cultures and a cable car ride to Monserrate, where you will enjoy the spectacular panoramic view of Bogotá and the savannah.

3. DAY: BOGOTÁ – NUQUÍ (Pacific)

After breakfast, transfer to the airport and flight from Bogotá via Medellín to Nuquí, a small village on the Pacific coast. After a short tour through the village, a ride in a small motor boat for about 1 hour south along the coast leads us to the Ensenada de Coqui where the Cabaña El Cantil is spectacularly located by the sea. 3 nights in huts incl. full board.

 4. DAY: NUQUÍ (Pacific) – COFFEE ZONE

After breakfast return trip by motorboat to Nuquí and transfer to the airport. Flight over Medellín to Pereira or Armenia. Upon arrival transfer in a nice, typical coffee finca.

5. DAY: COFFEE ZONE

After breakfast detailed visit to a special Coffee Hacienda to learn about the exact process of coffee production and coffee processing. The trip leads afterwards to the Cocora valley with its breathtaking scenery, which can be explored by foot or on horseback. Here we find, among other things, the Colombian national tree, the Palma de Cera (wax palm). It is one of the highest palm species in the world. In addition, the picturesque village of Salento is attended with its fabulous small streets full of handicraft centers.

6. DAY: COFFEE ZONE – SAN AGUSTÍN

After breakfast, transfer to airport and flight via Bogotá to Neiva. After arriving in Neiva 4-5 hour overland trip along the Rio Magdalena across spectacular mountain landscapes to San Agustín. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel. 3 nights incl. American breakfast.

7. DAY: SAN AGUSTÍN

A morning visit to the “Parque archeológico de San Agustín” with a visit to the Mesitas A-B-C and D, the “Fuente Ceremonial de Lavapatas” (ceremonial well) and the Archaeological Museum. In the afternoon take a horse ride to the archaeological sites of El Tablón and La Chaquira or drive to the narrow stream of the Río Magdalena.

8. DAY: SAN AGUSTÍN

After breakfast drive to San José de Isnos and visit of the “Parque Archeológico” of “Alto de los Ídolos” and “Alto de las Piedras”, and the spectacular waterfalls “Salto del Mortiño”. In the afternoon return to San Agustín and time to explore the pleasant village on your own.

9. DAY: SAN AGUSTÍN – CARTAGENA

In the morning, overland trip back to Neiva. Flight from Neiva vía Bogotá to the Caribbean coast to Cartagena. Upon arrival welcome by the local guide and transfer to the hotel. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure. 3 nights incl. American breakfast.

10. DAY: CARTAGENA

Visit Cartagena, which is one of the most impressive cities in Latin America. Caribbean flair and joie de vivre, a colonial city, surrounded by meter-high walls full of history and culture – just a city, in which you fall in love. The visit leads to the old town, its historical buildings and places include detail, in the convent “La Popa” and the castle “San Felipe”. The afternoon is at leisure to explore the old town and private swimming in the Caribbean Sea.

11. DAY: CARTAGENA

Day trip to the Islas del Rosario incl. lunch and the visit of the natural underwater zoo on the island San Martin, where you can watch a dolphin and shark show. At the private island Isla del Pirata, you will have plenty of time for swimming, snorkeling and relaxing in the warm and crystal clear Caribbean. Return to Cartagena during the afternoon. Transfers from the hotel to the port and back are not included, as well as the port and admission fees for Acuarium (visit optional).

12. DAY: CARTAGENA – DEPARTURE

During the morning transfer to airport and flight via Bogotá back to Europe or continuation of the journey with a swimming stopover in Cartagena, Capurganá, Santa Marta, San Andrés or Providencia.

The nature reserve of “La Macarena” integrates flora and fauna of the Andes, the Amazon and the Orinoco region forming a unique biogeographical complex. The reserve lies in the southwest of the department Meta, very close to the foothills of the Eastern Cordillera. It covers about 1.131.350 hectares, whit a yearly temperature that varies between 12 and 25°C depending on the altitude. The mountain range of the Serranía de la Macarena is an elevation in the midst of the Llanos savannah, separated from the Andes by a 50 km wide corridor.

1.DAY BOGOTÁ – VILLAVICENCIO – MACARENA

The overland trip starts at around 3:00 a.m. and has a duration of 3-4 hours from Bogotá to Villavicencio, capital of the Meta Department. Upon arrival, transfer to the airport for a flight to the Serranía de la Macarena. Landing on a natural airstrip. After breakfast visit to the surroundings. Accommodation in a camp in hammocks. Full board.

2.DAY: MACARENA – CAÑO CRISTALES

After breakfast departure towards Caño Cristales, a place of indescribable beauty with waterfalls and crystal clear river water. Hike through the region and time to take pictures, swim and relax. Afterwards return to Macarena.

3.DAY: MACARENA – VILLAVICENCIO – BOGOTÁ

After breakfast hike up to Cachivera where you will find the boats that take you back to Macarena. From Macarena catch up the propeller plane to Villavicencio. Continue overland to Bogotá and transfer to the hotel or airport.
