Minimizing the CO2-Footprint
Travel enriches our lives with unforgettable moments and experiences. Yet, every journey also leaves behind some unwanted traces – in the form of CO₂ emissions.
At Neptuno, we do everything we can to keep these emissions as low as possible, such as avoiding domestic flights whenever feasible. However, some emissions are unavoidable, and this is where we take climate action: Together with you, we aim to offset the remaining emissions by supporting sustainable projects in Colombia.
The average CO₂ emissions of a round trip with us in Colombia amount to about 0.3 to 0.6 tons of CO₂ per person.
This figure was carefully calculated based on an evaluation of bookings from recent years, considering transportation, domestic flights, activities, and hotel stays. We also relied on average values from official and reputable sources, such as vehicle consumption data from manufacturers, flight emissions from ICAO, and hotel emissions from trusted reports.

Climate Action – Every ton of CO₂ saved or offset is an essential step for climate protection and together, we can help neutralize the remaining footprint of your travels.
By supporting certified, sustainable projects in Colombia, we not only offset CO₂ emissions but also aim to shift the balance positively in the long term.
Offsetting alone is not the solution to climate change, but it is an important tool.
By offsetting emissions, we contribute to:
protecting vital eco systems – rainforests, rivers and biodiverse habitats.
empowering local communities, who promote sustainable projects.
creating a sustainable foundation for future generations
Sustainable Energies in San Martin
The goal of the cogeneration project is to utilize 100% of the solid biomass, such as fibers, dust, and shells, produced during the oil extraction process from African oil palms. This biomass is used to meet current energy needs, support future projects, and sell surplus energy. The project uses solid waste from the palm oil extraction process to generate thermal and electrical energy to power its operations. The turbines alternate on a weekly basis, operating during the continuous extraction plant’s activity hours.
Over its first 20 years, the project is expected to avoid an average of 8,266 tons of CO₂ annually.
Cultivation of Rubber Trees in Puerto Gaitan & Puerto Lopez
The Rubber Forest Project is a commercial reforestation initiative covering 10,000 hectares of Hevea brasiliensis (rubber trees) in the Meta department of Colombia. Its primary objectives are the sustainable production of rubber and the commercialization of carbon credits in both regulated and voluntary markets.
In addition to its economic objectives, the project contributes to Colombia’s national climate change goals by achieving an estimated total removal of 1,803,074 tons CO2. These reductions will be marketed under the framework of the “No Causación del Impuesto al Carbono” (a mechanism to reduce or exempt the carbon tax) and will count toward the country’s national carbon accounting to meet its 2030 climate targets.
