For us at Neptuno, responsible travel means continuously refining our approach. Our priority remains the avoidance and reduction of emissions through thoughtful route planning, efficient logistics, and strong local partnerships. The next step is to address those emissions that cannot be avoided despite these efforts. After testing voluntary offsetting last year, we are now going one step further and making it a standard practice.
CO₂ Offsetting as a Standard Component of Every Trip
Starting March 2026, CO₂ offsetting will be automatically integrated into every trip booked with us. We will offset a flat rate of one ton of CO₂ per person through certified climate protection projects in Colombia. This amount intentionally exceeds the average calculated emissions for our domestic itineraries (approx. 0.5 tons per person, excluding international flights), ensuring a net positive contribution to the preservation of Colombian ecosystems.
The fixed contribution of 7 USD per person is dedicated entirely to a portfolio of local initiatives. This includes innovative renewable energy projects (capturing methane to generate clean power) and large-scale reforestation (sustainable rubber plantations in the Meta region). This approach supports both technological climate solutions and the restoration of natural carbon sinks.
Local, Measurable, and Traceable
The offsetting takes place right where our trips occur: in Colombia. By supporting local programs, the impact remains tangible and directly contributes to protecting the biodiversity we are privileged to share with our guests every day. For you and your clients, this means a concrete contribution to climate protection without any additional administrative effort—transparent, local, and impactful.
