Once a year, Medellín – the City of Eternal Spring – transforms into a giant, fragrant sea of flowers. The Feria de las Flores is the pulsating expression of the Colombian soul and the most significant cultural event in the Antioquia region. This year, the spectacle takes place from July 31 to August 9, 2026.
The Heart of the Festival: The Silletero Tradition
The undisputed climax of the festivities is the world-famous Silleteros Parade (Desfile de Silleteros) on August 9. This tradition spans generations: farmers from the mountain village of Santa Elena carry elaborate flower arrangements (silletas) weighing up to 150 lbs on their backs through the streets. Each of these masterpieces tells its own story, handcrafted over weeks using fresh blooms.
A Feast for the Senses – Beyond the grand parade, the Feria offers a diverse program:
- Exhibitions: Spectacular orchid displays in the Botanical Garden.
- Music & Culture: Concerts, Trova competitions (improvised singing), and classic car parades take over the city.
- Authentic Experiences: We organize visits directly to the flower farms in Santa Elena, where guests can watch the Silleteros at work and experience their traditional craftsmanship firsthand.
Planning Notes: As the Feria is the region’s most popular event, we recommend coordinating travel plans for August soon. Early booking ensures the best availability for boutique hotels and grandstand seats on August 9. We handle the full organization to seamlessly integrate this cultural highlight into your itineraries.
